  2. Dear Mike ,
Thanks for including the Egyptian Navy .
    Some additional information :
    1)the last 5 Osa-1 were bought second-hand
from the " Serbia/Montenegro "-navy ,upgraded and reconditioned before delivery in 2007 , at least these , are operational .
    2)also in the late 2000s , 4 Tuima-class ,
modified ex-Osa-2 fast minelayers were bought from Finnland .
3)for the coastal defence , 7 ssc-3c batteries with about 70 msls were bought from
    " Serbia/Montenegro " in 2007 .
    For the Coast Guard :
1)6 Turkish MRTP-20 fast intervention craft of 48t have been ordered and are being delivered .
2)the Petersen cpc are divided into 2 classes , 9x 18t and 3x 20t and are mainly used
    for harbour patrols .
    2)the type83 patrol craft are locally-built
and similar in appearance to the October-class ,
without the missiles , lighter armament and slower speed .
wish you every success and will send you additional information soon ,

    1. According to CF 2009-10 there are three batteries of Border Guard Otomat truck mounted SSMs (two twin launchers each) (sorry Mike, missed these). The question is, do the SSC-3C batteries from Serbia/Montenegro supplement or replace the Otomat batteries?

Regarding the Osa fleet CF says it is unclear whether the ex-Yugoslav and ex-Finnish craft are to have an operational role or to be used as spares.

  3. hello Mike ,
this is your correspondent from Egypt once again with more info regarding the Egyptian navy :

  4. hello Mike ,
just another quick comment , regarding the ex-Serbian/Montenegrin
Osa-1s and 4 ex-Finnish mod Osa-2s , they are all operational and were shown
active in recent naval exercises . Regarding the ssn-3c missiles , they are supplementing , not replacing the coastal defence Otomats .
it is very doubtful the Crestitalia MV70 coastal patrol craft are in
service , as they were NEVER shown in ANY media , in contrast to all the other
naval and coast guard vessels .
    there is also a Hurreya3 , 7700gt Ro-Ro transport vessel which ,
together with the other 2 Hurreya transports , belong to the army .
the El Horreya yacht , ex-khedivial El Mahroussa , was built in 1865
    not 1965 .
    best regards again , Fouad

    1. Thanks for the info! Sorry, it was my fault to be 100 years off on the yacht :-(

Very interesting that the four ex-Finnish Osa II fast minelayers are operational. So they are used as fast minelayers now, or have they been equipped with missiles again?

You could very well be right on the Crestitalia MV70 boats since there are no pictures of them available and the photo in Combat Fleets is from 1980.

    2. Hi Per ,
You DO have a lot of correct info on the Egyptian Navy , the 100 years difference on the yacht is quite natural , as it is
      so old ..
The ex-Finnish Osa-2 have not been equipped with missiles
and are used as fast minelayers .
There is also doubt about the existence of the 12 Sea Spectre PB Mk-3 , that , like the Crestilias have never been spotted , or been photografed .
      Best regards , Fouad
